深圳南山國王學(xué)校校長來信丨最新官宣：8位新老師即將加入！

我想借此機會感謝你們，國王的家長們，感謝你們的支持和幫助。感謝我們的老師，尤其是那些在過去兩個月，留在深圳并完成了出色工作的，以及那些暫時在英國或愛爾蘭，目前還無法回到中國的老師們。

Well, we are finally at the end of our first year. When we started out on that rainy day in September, we could never have predicted what would happen. To think that when we ended our first term in January, we had no idea what the future would bring, not just to us but to the world. Almost everybody from outside our community I have spoken to about the start of our journey here in Shenzhen has commented on it being a very difficult time to begin a school. So many things changed very quickly and here we are now ending our first year a month late, having missed out on four months of schooling (February to June).

終于，第一個學(xué)年快要結(jié)束了。去年9月，開學(xué)的那個下雨天，我們根本不會預(yù)料到接下來會發(fā)生什么?；叵胛覀冊?月份結(jié)束第一個學(xué)期時，我們也不知道未來會給我們帶來什么，不僅是我們，全世界都沒有預(yù)料到這次疫情的到來。幾乎所有我認(rèn)識的，最近在深圳開辦學(xué)校的人都表示，這對辦學(xué)帶來了許多困難。很多事情變幻莫測，我們錯過了本該上學(xué)的4個月(2月到6月)時間，推遲放假一個月。

However, despite the difficulties, it really has been worth it. Seeing your children arrive every morning is an absolute delight, as it also is when I wander around the classrooms and watch them fully engaged in active learning. With each day, they find out more about the world and about themselves, they learn skills and are developing a positive desire to learn more. Their communication skills both in Chinese and, even among the youngest, in English, are improving all the time. Above all, they are seeing school as a safe place, one where they can be challenged and supported at the same time. They are also having fun.

盡管困難重重，但這一切都是值得的。每天早上看到孩子們來到學(xué)校是一種快樂，當(dāng)我經(jīng)過教室，看到他們?nèi)硇牡赝度氲綄W(xué)習(xí)中，也是一種快樂。他們開始一天天地了解世界和自己，學(xué)習(xí)不同的技能，表達出對于學(xué)習(xí)的積極愿望。他們用中文和英語進行交流的能力正逐漸提高，即使是最小的孩子也在不斷進步。最重要的是，他們眼里的學(xué)校是一個安全的地方，一個可以挑戰(zhàn)自我和獲得支持的地方，也是收獲快樂的地方。

I would really like to take this opportunity to thank you, our parents, for your support and help. I also thank our teachers, especially those who are currently here in Shenzhen and have done a brilliant job over the last two months, but also those who, against their wishes, are trapped in the UK or Ireland and unable to get back to China. I have written separately on the difficulties of getting our foreign teachers back. It is a problem common to all schools of this type across China at the moment and I am grateful that the matter has been taken up by both the UK Consulate in Guangzhou and by the British Embassy in Beijing. It does seem that things are now moving more positively towards getting them back during the late summer.

我想借此機會感謝你們，國王的家長們，感謝你們的支持和幫助。感謝我們的老師，尤其是那些在過去兩個月，留在深圳并完成了出色工作的，以及那些暫時在英國或愛爾蘭，目前還無法回到中國的老師們。學(xué)校已經(jīng)在盡最大努力嘗試讓這些老師盡快回國，目前，這是中國所有同類學(xué)校普遍面臨的問題。所幸，英國駐廣州領(lǐng)事館和英國駐北京大使館已經(jīng)開始處理此事，非常感謝他們的幫助。現(xiàn)在看來，事情正朝著良好的方向發(fā)展，有望在這個夏天結(jié)束之前讓外教們返校。

My thanks also extend to our superb administration and operations team, many of whom have been with us since the school was just an idea. We owe a lot to them for bringing it into reality. And, finally, of course, to our two Co-Heads, Mr John Astbury and Ms Yang Lianhong whose teamwork, professionalism and combined sense of humour are essential to creating a learning community. They are a delight to work with.

我還要感謝國王優(yōu)秀的管理和運營團隊，他們中的許多人是自我們有創(chuàng)校這個想法之時就一直在團隊中辛勤付出。非常感謝他們把我們共同的夢想變成現(xiàn)實。當(dāng)然，最后還要感謝兩位園長，John Astbury先生和楊煉紅女士，他們的團隊精神、專業(yè)精神和幽默感對營造學(xué)習(xí)型社區(qū)至關(guān)重要，和他們一起工作我很愉快。

The highlights of the year for me have of course been the big ‘first’ occasions such as: our Flag Raising, our Founders’ Day and our Leaving Ceremony for the K3s, all alongside our Halloween, Christmas and New Year celebrations. These are all great and important events for a school, but, on another and probably more important level, it is the daily progress and development of the children that gives me the most pleasure.

對我來說，一年中最精彩的回憶當(dāng)屬那些重要的“第一次”活動，比如：第一次升旗儀式、開園典禮、第一屆幼兒園畢業(yè)典禮，以及第一次一起慶祝萬圣節(jié)、圣誕節(jié)和新年。這些對于一所學(xué)校來說都是具有紀(jì)念意義的事情，但更重要的是，看到孩子們每天的進步和成長是我最大的快樂。

We have only one member of staff leaving us, that is Eimear Pickstone, our former King’s Canterbury student. I am delighted that she will be replaced by Aysha Farook-Garces who left King’s in 2017 and has since done a degree in Mandarin. We also have new teachers arriving for the Pre-Prep and the Primary project. Theodora Kountouretis actually arrived from Guangzhou recently and started work. She was joined by Alice Wei who came from Hong Kong. They have both settled in very well to the Pre-Prep and will be class teachers from September. Other new teachers are listed below:

目前我們只有一位實習(xí)老師離開，那就是Eimear Pickstone，她是我們英國坎特伯雷國王學(xué)校的學(xué)生。不久之后，我們將迎來一位新的實習(xí)老師Aysha Farook-Garces，她于2017年畢業(yè)于國王學(xué)校，并獲得了中文專業(yè)的相關(guān)學(xué)位。當(dāng)然，我們還有新的老師即將加入，Theodora Kountouretis老師最近剛從廣州來到國王學(xué)校工作，她的搭檔Alice Wei老師此前在香港任教，他們都很好地適應(yīng)了幼兒園的生活，并從今年9月開始擔(dān)任班主任的工作，其他新教師的名單如下:

We have two weeks of Summer School now for some students and staff and then a week’s break before we begin again with what should be many more students. It will be wonderful to see the Premises working at full capacity, but please rest assured that the health, safety and well-being of the students are always our first priority. Every possible precaution will remain to ensure we are virus and accident free.

我們將開設(shè)為期兩周的暑期班，此后休息一周，將迎來新的學(xué)年，那時我們將有更多的學(xué)生?？吹絿跫彝ズ蛨F隊的成員越來越多真是一件欣慰而又滿足的事情，但請放心，學(xué)生的健康、安全和福祉永遠是我們的首要任務(wù)。我們將采取一切可行的預(yù)防措施，確保校園安全。
