親愛的家長們,
希望各位在去年的四年級第一篇微信推送中已經(jīng)了解了我們上個學期的校園生活。我們很高興在這里繼續(xù)與大家分享更多的學習經(jīng)歷。
Our second semester...well now this posed a few unexpected challenges for us, but don’t worry. It was nothing we couldn’t handle. The pandemic COVID-19 arrived on the scene! This took us all by surprise. We were not allowed to go outside of our apartments and were asked to wear masks all the time when we had to be out.We knew from the news and our own research on COVID-19 that a lot of people were struggling because of the pandemic and we shared our feelings on how we were all dealing with this. We felt respectful for the medical personnel who worked non-stop to treat the patients so we created posters to show our respect. We all wanted the special period to end as soon as possible, but we also understand that we need to follow the rules, be patient and cooperative so that our families can all stay safe.
第二學期剛開始時,新型冠狀病毒肺炎在國內(nèi)外逐漸擴散,但我們相信沒有什么困難是不能被克服的。由于疫情的影響,我們需要長時間待在家里,如果出門,必須時刻佩戴口罩。通過觀看新聞和自主探究課,我們了解到很多人遭受了苦難,我們深表同情,同時對馬不停蹄工作的醫(yī)護人員產(chǎn)生深深的敬意,所以我們制作手工海報,來表達敬意。我們都希望疫情能盡快結(jié)束,但在那之前,我們必須遵守規(guī)章、保持耐心、團結(jié)協(xié)作,保證我們和家人在特殊時期的健康安全。
Since that all began we have changed some of the ways we are learning. We were informed by our teachers that a lot of learning would have to take place online. We started utilizing more of our technology skills, which are in our school mission statement so it is helping us make that connection and testing our patience with the internet. This posed some challenges for us honestly, but we do love a good challenge! We are learning to be more organized and how to have a virtual presence. Our teachers have all been very supportive trying to make our lessons fun by including various activities. We even do PE exercises in our weekly spelling stations activity! Though we still miss being at school, we try to be there for each other during online sessions by helping our friends to figure out technical problems and sharing helpful learning resources. We remember student agency and are learning to be more responsible for our learning during this special period.
疫情期間,我們在很大程度上改變了學習的方式。老師告訴我們,大多數(shù)時候我們都需要在網(wǎng)上上課、寫作業(yè)和完成任務。在學校的教育目標中,要求我們熟練運用信息技術(shù)技巧,這種經(jīng)驗使得在特殊時期的我們能夠輕易將學習與信息技術(shù)產(chǎn)生聯(lián)系,并學會在不穩(wěn)定的網(wǎng)絡狀態(tài)下保有耐心。在這個過程中我們遇到了一些挑戰(zhàn),但是我們樂于迎接挑戰(zhàn)。我們漸漸明白,做任何事都需要有計劃,在虛擬世界也應形成有規(guī)律的生活方式。老師們盡力幫助我們,設計不同的活動,使課堂生動有趣。比如我們在單詞的學習中,加入了體育運動,一邊背單詞,一邊鍛煉身體。盡管我們都很懷念上學的時光,但我們盡量在視頻課中互相支持,幫助朋友解決網(wǎng)絡技術(shù)問題,分享有用的學習資源。我們沒有忘記學習主動性,特殊時期使我們得到了鍛煉,學會對自己的學習負責。

We are doing our exercise spelling station.
We have different exercises for each letter in our spelling word.
我們完成單詞分組練習的體育部分,每一個字母都代表一種不同的體育運動。
We have done many virtual lessons online utilizing the APP ‘Zoom’ according to our established timetable, while still using Seesaw as our schools online media platform. We have learnt about “How We Express Ourselves”: Throughout history, people have interacted with each other and communicated using arts. The lines of inquiry we investigated were ‘How people communicate through arts,’ ‘How art works provide insight and information,’ ‘The role of arts in different cultures, places and times,’ and ‘Development of art forms over time.’. We analysed the role of arts in different cultures/places/times and evaluate which had the biggest impact and why. We made predictions about the future of art creation, and its role with reasoning. We also drew diagrams and pictures to convey key concepts or processes, used posters/timelines to summarize and demonstrate information. We did many activities where we researched online, then discussed and formulated understandings on what we were learning using Zoom. We drew connection through our Art lessons, between homeroom learning and virtual museum tours as well. This unit also reminded us of our fieldtrip to the Shenzhen museum before, when we saw for ourselves the artifacts created by ancient people in the local area.
我們利用Zoom平臺,每周按課表上視頻課,同時將Seesaw當做學校的線上媒體平臺。我們學習了新探究單元“我們?nèi)绾伪磉_自己”:古往今來,人們用藝術(shù)進行互動、交流。我們探討了以下思路:人們?nèi)绾瓮ㄟ^藝術(shù)交流、藝術(shù)作品如何傳遞思想和信息、不同文化、地點和時代中藝術(shù)的角色和藝術(shù)的演變。我們分析了不同文化、地點和時代中藝術(shù)的不同角色,評價哪一種藝術(shù)產(chǎn)生了最深遠的影響并思考其中的原因。我們畫表格和示意圖來展示關(guān)鍵詞和過程,制作海報和時間軸來概括和傳達信息。我們還做了很多其他活動,如上網(wǎng)收集資料,在視頻課中與同學一起討論和分享不同的理解。我們將探究單元與美術(shù)課聯(lián)系起來,不僅上課時,還在參觀線上博物館時。通過這個單元的學習,我們回想起在深圳博物館的實踐活動,那時我們親眼觀賞了本地古人制作的藝術(shù)品。
In one of our science lessons, we tried to find materials at home to demonstrate light reflection. It was very interesting because some of us were able to connect this with art and innovation.
在科學課中,我們在家里找材料展示光的反射。這個過程很有意思,我們將科學和美術(shù)、創(chuàng)新課聯(lián)系起來。
We then moved onto our ‘energy’ unit of inquiry. Where ‘Energy may be converted from one form to another and stored in various ways may support human progress.’ We found we knew a lot more about this than we thought. We use energy every day in so many ways. We connected this to previous units when we were reminded through our research that our bodies use a form of energy and that electrical energy makes digital media possible. Learning about renewable as well as sustainable energy and the ways they are benefiting the world has made us really excited for the future opportunities. To wrap up this unit, we conducted energy experiment at home using recycled materials to show energy transformation or conservation. We are always fascinated by the various science experiments shown in the videos; now we were able to become little engineers, plan our experiments carefully and build energy models ourselves! We also recorded the process and created science videos with the help of iMovie to document our experiment.
接著,我們進入了第五探究單元的學習:能量可以被轉(zhuǎn)化為不同形式,以不同方法存儲,來促進人類的發(fā)展進步。我們驚喜地發(fā)現(xiàn)我們對這個主題已經(jīng)有所了解,因為我們每天都在以多種方式使用能量或能源。在自主探究的過程中,我們回想起在之前的探究單元中學到的知識:我們的身體隨時都在使用一種化學能,電能使數(shù)字媒體成為可能。我們學習可再生和可循環(huán)能源,了解它們帶來的多種益處,這讓我們十分興奮,因為這意味著未來充滿無限可能。作為第五探究單元的總結(jié),我們在家里進行科學實驗,利用回收材料展示能量的轉(zhuǎn)換和守恒。每次觀看科學視頻時,我們總是被實驗深深吸引,現(xiàn)在我們有機會成為小小工程師,仔細地設計實驗并親手制作能量模型。我們同時錄制實驗,用視頻剪輯軟件來編輯錄像文件、添加音頻說明。
