ennis Tournament

MIS的首場(chǎng)網(wǎng)球比賽

On 1 November MIS hosted its first Tennis tournament against three local schools: Bromsgrove, Vanke Meisha Academy and SCIE.

Although Tennis is a new sport at MIS, the students stepped up to the mark and produced a fantastic morning of competitive games enjoyed by both players and spectators. MIS’s Under 14 players Luis and Dino secured a respectable 2nd place in their category.

11月1日，曼徹斯通城堡學(xué)校舉辦了首場(chǎng)網(wǎng)球比賽。城市綠洲學(xué)校、萬(wàn)科梅沙書(shū)院和深圳國(guó)際交流學(xué)院三所學(xué)校參賽。

據(jù)悉，這是曼校首次開(kāi)設(shè)網(wǎng)球比賽，現(xiàn)場(chǎng)參賽隊(duì)員和曼校學(xué)生均全力以赴，為觀(guān)眾們帶來(lái)了一場(chǎng)精彩的競(jìng)技比賽。最后，曼校球員Luis 和 Dino獲得了U14組第二名的好成績(jī)。

Clan Debate Finale 2019

2019年Clan辯論賽決賽

On 18 November we saw Nevis and Edinburgh pitch against each other in the grand finale of the Clan Debating Competition. Nevis Juniors & Seniors (mixed) teams won the final debate with their convincing arguments that "beauty pageants should be banned", while Edinburgh Seniors team won with their argument on "why technology is not killing the world". The standard of the debating was high and the whole school was in attendance to see the grand finale which impressed and inspired all.

11月18日星期二，Nevis與Edinburgh隊(duì)伍在Clan辯論賽決賽中一爭(zhēng)高下。Nevis小學(xué)及中學(xué)隊(duì)(混合組)最終贏(yíng)得比賽，Nevis隊(duì)辯論賽中的觀(guān)點(diǎn)是：應(yīng)該禁止選美大賽，此隊(duì)伍提出的論點(diǎn)令人信服。Edinburgh中學(xué)組也贏(yíng)得了一輪比賽，其辯論話(huà)題是：科技不能使得世界消亡。選手的辯論水平非常之高，全校成員均出席了本次大型的辯論決賽，大家無(wú)不為此精彩且高水準(zhǔn)的辯論內(nèi)容而感到折服、敬佩。

ISL Swimming Gala at MIS

MIS游泳比賽

On 9 November MIS hosted the first ISL swimming gala. For many of our swimmers this was their first time competing in swimming. The selected group of MIS swimmers entered a wide variety of races – different strokes, individual and in relays. Many swimmers received individual awards but as a team they came 2nd overall which Head of Swimming, Ms Sally Evison, declared a fantastic result. There will be more tournaments in the year ahead and team training continues every week.

11月9日星期六，MIS舉辦了首屆ISL游泳比賽。對(duì)于許多參賽學(xué)生而言，這是他們首次參加游泳比賽的經(jīng)歷。游泳比賽隊(duì)伍以各類(lèi)方式進(jìn)行競(jìng)技——不同的泳姿、單人賽和接力比賽。許多參賽學(xué)生榮獲單項(xiàng)獎(jiǎng)，團(tuán)體組取得第二名的好成績(jī)。未來(lái)將有更多的比賽，每周都有球隊(duì)訓(xùn)練。

Steinway International Piano Competition

施坦威國(guó)際鋼琴大賽

Michael Zheng, MIS Year 7 student, has won 3rd place in the Steinway International Piano Competition. The competition began with over 7,000 entries from students all around the world.

曼校7年級(jí)學(xué)生 Michael Zheng榮獲施坦威國(guó)際鋼琴比賽三等獎(jiǎng)!此次比賽共有超過(guò)七千余名選手參與。

Mongolia Extremes

蒙古極限生活講座

On 28 November MIS was pleased to open its new lecture theatre. The inaugural lecture was by Mr Christopher Schrader from the Royal Geographical Society (RGS). Christopher shared with us his experiences in Mongolia.

The lecture was well attended, with students not only from MIS but also other international schools from across Shenzhen. This was the first time the RGS has given a lecture in Shenzhen and Christopher was very impressed by the quality of the facility, "I certainly hope this will be just the beginning of Royal Geographical Society lectures here at MIS."

在11月28星期四，MIS第一次開(kāi)放使用我校全新的階梯教室。首位演講者為來(lái)自皇家地理協(xié)會(huì)的Christopher Schrader, 他與我們分享其在蒙古國(guó)探險(xiǎn)經(jīng)歷和游牧文化。

此次演講吸引了包括其他國(guó)際學(xué)校在內(nèi)的眾多學(xué)子參與。這是皇家地理協(xié)會(huì)成員首次在深圳演講。Christopher對(duì)MIS高質(zhì)量的教學(xué)設(shè)備大為贊嘆。他表示，相信這只是皇家地理協(xié)會(huì)在MIS的首次演講，此后將有更多演講者來(lái)校與學(xué)生溝通分享。

St Andrew’s Day Scottish Ceilidh

蘇格蘭國(guó)慶日凱利舞舞會(huì)

On 29 November, MIS celebrated St Andrew’s Day by hosting the first traditional Scottish Ceilidh in Shenzhen. With over 80 guests, MIS parents, staff and friends of MIS enjoyed fine scottish traditional foods, scottish dancing and lots of fun.

The St Andrew’s Day Ceilidh was organised in conjunction with school charity MIS Outreach. At the event Outreach arranged a silent auction at which a staggering RMB37,000 was raised.

在11月29日星期五，我校以舉辦首屆傳統(tǒng)蘇格蘭凱利舞活動(dòng)的方式慶祝了蘇格蘭國(guó)慶日。當(dāng)日參加活動(dòng)的嘉賓80余名，其中包括家長(zhǎng)、教職工和MIS的朋友們。大家在活動(dòng)中享用了美食，欣賞了音樂(lè)，更體驗(yàn)了趣味的蘇格蘭舞。感謝當(dāng)日所有參加活動(dòng)的嘉賓!

蘇格蘭國(guó)慶日凱利舞活動(dòng)與MIS慈善機(jī)構(gòu)合作，在當(dāng)晚活動(dòng)中，MIS慈善機(jī)構(gòu)安排了無(wú)聲競(jìng)拍環(huán)節(jié)，共籌集到了37,000元，可以說(shuō)此巨大數(shù)目令人震驚。感謝所有在此競(jìng)拍活動(dòng)中慷慨捐贈(zèng)物品的家長(zhǎng)和朋友們!

ISL Cross Country

越野比賽

On 28 November MIS took their cross-country squad to VMA. MIS runners faced a big challenge as they were all entered into the “Elite 7 kilometer” race where all of the under 19 & 16 runners would race against 5 other schools in a grueling course containing a 1.5 kilometer uphill start.

MIS girls and boys both ran extremely well securing the following positions –

3rd place Jim

All participating runners departed for Siem Reap on Friday to take part in the world famous the Angkor Wat half marathon this Sunday.

在11月28日，MIS帶著我校的精英越野隊(duì)前往深圳萬(wàn)科梅沙書(shū)院參與比賽。本次曼校的隊(duì)員們面臨著巨大的挑戰(zhàn)，因?yàn)樗嘘?duì)員均須參加“精英7千米”長(zhǎng)跑比賽，在這個(gè)比賽中所有19歲及16歲之下的隊(duì)員們均須與其他五所學(xué)府的成員們相抗衡，并且比賽中包含一段1.5千米長(zhǎng)的極其艱辛的上坡挑戰(zhàn)(在比賽初始階段)。

MIS的女生和男生們?cè)诒荣愔斜憩F(xiàn)極佳，并取得了下方所示的好成績(jī)：

周五，所有參賽選手都啟程前往暹粒，參加本周日舉行的世界著名的吳哥窟半程馬拉松賽。

Badminton

羽毛球比賽

On 30th November MIS hosted its second ISL badminton tournament against five other Shenzhen international schools - Bromsgrove, Whittle, SCIE, VMA and Green Oasis. The format for the event was a series of mixed doubles, girls’ singles and boys' singles all being played in the following age categories - Under 19, Under 16, Under 14, and Under 11.

After a full day of highly competitive sport the results were as follows –

在11月30日星期六，MIS舉辦了第二屆ISL(私立學(xué)府)聯(lián)盟比賽，與5所臨近學(xué)府相抗衡：柏朗思觀(guān)瀾湖外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)校、深圳薈同國(guó)際學(xué)校、深圳國(guó)際交流學(xué)院，深圳萬(wàn)科梅沙書(shū)院和城市綠洲學(xué)校。此次比賽模式為一系列混合雙打、女子單打和男子單打，比賽選手按照年級(jí)組劃分到不同的比賽組：19歲以下、16歲以下、14歲以下和11歲以下。

經(jīng)過(guò)激烈的比賽，比賽結(jié)果為：

TED Talks CCA

TED演講CCA

TED Talks CCA Year 13 Hugo presented a talk to Seniors on Friday 29 November about ‘How Music Describes the Real World.’ He eloquently and confidently explained the impact that music has on people, using wide-ranging musical sources, from playing Vivaldi on the flute, through to the theme music from the 1975 film ‘Jaws.’ His assured presentation and interaction with the audience is a testament to how his spoken language has progressed since joining MIS.

The TED Talks CCA runs every Monday from 5-6 pm at which students plan, prepare, and present on any topic that they feel passionately about. This CCA really helps students to progress in English by focussing on delivering a speech to a real audience.

來(lái)自TED演講的學(xué)生Hugo(13年級(jí))，在11月29日星期五的時(shí)候，為中學(xué)學(xué)生們帶來(lái)了他的講說(shuō)，主題為：音樂(lè)如何描述真實(shí)世界。他的演講自信且雄辯，他向大家講解了音樂(lè)對(duì)人們的影響。演講過(guò)程中，他引用了廣泛的音樂(lè)資源，從彈奏維瓦爾第(一個(gè)作曲家)的作品到播放1975年影片《Jaws》中的主題曲。他自信的演講風(fēng)格及與觀(guān)眾們自然的互動(dòng)，便是他自加入MIS以來(lái)取得巨大語(yǔ)言進(jìn)步的最佳體現(xiàn)。Hugo你是最棒的!

TED演講于每星期一下午5-6點(diǎn)鐘開(kāi)展。學(xué)生可選擇任何其感興趣的話(huà)題，進(jìn)行計(jì)劃、準(zhǔn)備與演講。參加此CCA的學(xué)生通過(guò)向觀(guān)眾們演講這一鍛煉機(jī)會(huì)，將進(jìn)一步提升自身的英文水平。
