Dear Parents;

親愛的家長們;

I am pleased to let you know we had a very successful second fire drill this week. The students exited the buildings very quickly and lined up by class and stood quietly while their attendance was taken. Our next drill will be an earthquake drill followed by a lockdown drill.

我很高興地告訴您，這周第二次的消防演習(xí)非常成功。學(xué)生們很快地走出教學(xué)樓，按班級(jí)排好隊(duì)，靜靜地站著，等待老師點(diǎn)名。我們的下一個(gè)演習(xí)將是地震演習(xí)，之后還將進(jìn)行封鎖演習(xí)。

On Friday, September 27 MLIA - SZ will be hosting its second school-wide Terry Fox Run. This run is held annually in many countries around the world in memory of Terry Fox, a famous Canadian who grew up in the Vancouver area. Terry was diagnosed with bone cancer at an early age, and lost his right leg during the process. Rather than let cancer defeat him, he decided to run across Canada to raise awareness and support cancer research.

9月27日星期五，深圳市楓葉學(xué)校將舉辦第二次全校性的Terry Fox跑步活動(dòng)。每年，世界上許多國家都會(huì)舉辦這種跑步活動(dòng)，以紀(jì)念在溫哥華長大的加拿大名人Terry Fox。Terry在很小的時(shí)候就被診斷出患有骨癌，在這個(gè)過程中他失去了右腿。他沒有讓癌癥打敗自己，而是決定跑遍加拿大，以提高人們對(duì)癌癥的認(rèn)識(shí)和支持癌癥的研究。

Sadly, Terry did not complete the race. He died before he could finish. However, the “Marathon of Hope” (Terry Fox Run was created in 1981 and has raised over 750 million dollars since then. It continues to inspire people to this day).

遺憾的是，Terry并沒有完成比賽。他還沒來得及跑完就去世了。然而，“希望馬拉松”(由Terry Fox Run創(chuàng)立于1981年，自那以后已經(jīng)籌集了7.5億美元。它一直激勵(lì)著人們直到今天。)

The theme for this year’s run is “Anything is possible if you try”. We believe this is an important lesson for every MLIA student to learn.

今年的跑步的主題是“只要你努力，一切皆有可能”。我們相信這是每一個(gè)深圳市楓葉學(xué)校的學(xué)生都應(yīng)該學(xué)習(xí)的重要一課。

8:00 – 8:45 Student assembly about Terry Fox

8:00 - 8:45 學(xué)生就Terry Fox活動(dòng)集合

8:50 – 9:55 Classroom lessons about “Anything is possible if you try”

8:50 - 9:55 課堂講授關(guān)于“只要你努力，一切皆有可能”的課程

10:00 – 10:55 Group activities in the hallways about “Anything is possible if you try”

10:00 - 10:55 走廊里進(jìn)行“只要你努力，一切皆有可能”的小組活動(dòng)

11:00 – 11:45 All students and teachers participate in the Terry Fox Run on the campus

11:00 - 11:45 全體學(xué)生和教師參與校園Terry Fox跑步

11:45 – 12:00 Dismissal for the National Holiday

11:45 - 12:00 放學(xué)，國慶節(jié)放假開始

Parents are invited to arrive at the school at 10:00 o’clock if they would like to watch a Terry Fox video in the auditorium or to watch the group activities in the hallway. Parents are also welcome to cheer their children and teachers on as they complete the Terry Fox Run.
