　　本質(zhì)上，我是一個(gè)愛出風(fēng)頭的人

　　來中加之前，我過得很好。至少，在我周圍的人看來是這樣的。

　　在普高，我的成績(jī)年級(jí)前十;參加所有“應(yīng)該”參加的活動(dòng);我競(jìng)選班委和學(xué)生會(huì)，拼命完成老師交代的所有任務(wù);每周末都用補(bǔ)習(xí)班填滿所有的時(shí)間……我很忙，忙到?jīng)]有自己的生活，沒有自己的意志。

　　我真的喜歡這樣的生活嗎?我喜歡。因?yàn)槲冶举|(zhì)上是一個(gè)非常愛出風(fēng)頭的人，這些幾乎是我普高生活唯一能在全校面前表現(xiàn)的途徑。這些是我最喜歡的事情嗎?不是，但我沒有選擇的權(quán)力。那段時(shí)間，我非常抑郁，經(jīng)常因?yàn)榻箲]而整夜失眠，而焦慮是因?yàn)閾?dān)心睡眠不好影響第二天聽課。同時(shí)，我還得在父母和老師面前繼續(xù)扮演我原來“積極上進(jìn)”的角色，繼續(xù)在焦慮中煎熬。

　　Technically, I am a “showing off” guy

　　Before I came to SCCSC, I was doing okay. At the very least, to everyone surrounded me, that is a fact.

　　In the normal high school that I used to study in, I was one of the top 1 percent students. I take part in every activity that is “supposed” to be taken. I ran for the presidency of student union. I work everything off to meet the requirement from my teachers. I filled all my free time with classes that is off the curriculum, etc. I was too busy to have my own life.

　　Do I like such kind of life? Honestly, I do. That’s because I am the kind of person who is addicted to the sweetness of being seen. Those are the only ways of doing that in a normal high school. However, am I really fond of such thing? No. But I don’t really get to choose. Back to that time, I suffered from great depression. I stayed up all night because of anxiety. Funny thing, though, is that my anxiety came from staying up late itself. I am too afraid of unable to have a good status for tomorrow’s study. Despite my problem, I must stay on the motion of goody two shoes in front of everyone. Everyday struggles.

　　從2005到2019，

　　我和姐姐都在中加找到了自我

　　當(dāng)我在焦慮中隱忍、煎熬時(shí)，爸爸是唯一發(fā)現(xiàn)我狀態(tài)不對(duì)的人。長(zhǎng)談之后，他鄭重建議我轉(zhuǎn)去姐姐的母校——深圳(南山)中加學(xué)校。我姐姐是丁小森，2005年轉(zhuǎn)入中加學(xué)校，后升入滑鐵盧大學(xué)精算專業(yè);2012年，榮獲“中華小姐環(huán)球大賽”季軍，獲得“最具文化氣質(zhì)”獎(jiǎng);現(xiàn)在全球飛，在自己的事業(yè)里忙碌并幸福。她告訴我：在中加，選擇像活動(dòng)一樣豐富;但是，語言成績(jī)和GPA也同樣很重要。她希望我能像她一樣在中加找到人生方向，成為自己想成為的人。

　　聽完彷徨。我渴望成為一個(gè)自由、快樂、真實(shí)、安心的自己，渴望被認(rèn)可;但又擔(dān)心自制力不足，放縱自我，無法成為那個(gè)我想成為的人。

　　幸運(yùn)的是，那些擔(dān)憂都沒有發(fā)生。我早早被一所美國前三十的大學(xué)錄取了，收到五所美國TOP50大學(xué)的offer，還被世界排名第十的華盛頓大學(xué)西雅圖分?？粗胁浫?。這說明，他們認(rèn)可我的學(xué)業(yè)成績(jī);除此之外，他們認(rèn)為我更是一個(gè)相當(dāng)有價(jià)值的人。如果沒來中加，我絕對(duì)做不到這一切。為什么呢?

　　故事繼續(xù)。

　　From 2005 to 2019, we are here seeking awakening

　　As I was rolling in the deep, my dad became the only who noticed that something is wrong with me. After a deep conversation that took nearly a year, he suggested that I should transfer to SCCSC. He mentioned that my cousin Din Xiaosen who I always look up to graduated from this school. She graduated from University of Waterloo and won the third place in 2012 Miss China international competition. Today, she is flying all around the world, working hard and playing hard. She told me: In this school, you are exposed to tons of choices, while you must put enough attention to GPA and language exam. She hoped that I could found the spirit of my life as she did here and be the one who I want to be.

　　I’m not sure. That’s what I have always wanted. But in the meantime, I can’t help thinking that let go myself and fail to achieve any of that.

　　Luckily, that didn’t happen. I was accepted by one top 30 university in the US, and 5 top 50. Also, I was accepted by the University of Washington, which ranks the 10th university in the World; which means, they were not only satisfied with my academic performance, but also viewed me as a valuable young man. If I didn’t come to SCCSC, I couldn’t have done that. Why?

　　再難，正確的事情都要堅(jiān)持

　　我下定決心，從普高轉(zhuǎn)來中加，做出了我短暫人生中最正確的決定。

　　剛來中加，第一次期中考，第一次托?？?，成績(jī)都非常不理想，我開始質(zhì)疑自己。中加的老師們用驚人的耐心和恰當(dāng)?shù)姆椒ò盐乙龑?dǎo)出來。

　　班主任劉玉慧老師為我量身定做了一套追趕本班同學(xué)的學(xué)習(xí)計(jì)劃，并要求我學(xué)習(xí)四門AP，那可是班上最優(yōu)秀同學(xué)的水平，她還陪著我完成一個(gè)又一個(gè)目標(biāo)。記得我一度想放棄最難的AP化學(xué)，于偉老師不停地鼓勵(lì)我，最后我考出4分的優(yōu)秀成績(jī)。外教意識(shí)到我的英語水平比較低，總愿意花更多的時(shí)間聽我把話說完，善意的指出我的語法錯(cuò)誤，再加上小熊老師的督促、指導(dǎo)，我的英語水平以肉眼可見的速度提升上來，TOEFL也很快破百。

　　過程中，我發(fā)現(xiàn)了適合自己，也可能適合你的學(xué)習(xí)方法。

　　第一，分解目標(biāo)。起初，我的詞匯量只有四千，而要應(yīng)付TOEFL和SAT考試，詞匯量必須達(dá)到一萬兩千左右，且要熟悉并能主動(dòng)應(yīng)用這些單詞。我計(jì)劃從2017年9月開始，每天背三十個(gè)單詞，2018年6月完成任務(wù)。

　　第二，強(qiáng)制執(zhí)行。單詞背了一段時(shí)間后發(fā)現(xiàn)，根據(jù)艾賓浩斯遺忘曲線的規(guī)律，每天能記住的單詞還不到三分之一，如果不繼續(xù)強(qiáng)化，這三分之一也會(huì)很快忘記。我強(qiáng)迫自己重新調(diào)整策略，每天背九十個(gè)單詞，每天堅(jiān)持做閱讀題以減少遺忘。2018年5月，我的詞匯量就到達(dá)了理想的一萬兩千個(gè)。優(yōu)秀的高考英語考生的詞匯量是五千，大學(xué)四級(jí)考試要求的詞匯量是六千。

　　九個(gè)月，單詞量提升八千，靠的是方法和再難也堅(jiān)持做正確事情的決心。

　　Do the right thing, no matter how hard it is

　　I made up my mind to transfer to SCCSC. That could be the best decision I’ve made in my entire life.

　　When I first came here, my first midterm and my first TOFEL was, honestly speaking, screwed. I started to doubt myself. My teachers in SCCSC guided me out from that kind of situation with striking patience and proper method.

　　My homeroom teacher, Liu Yuhui, customized a study plan for me so that I could catch up with my classmate who is a year ahead of me. She also forced me to study 4 AP courses. She accompanied me accomplishing a few achievements. There are dozens of time I want to quit AP Chemistry, but my Chemistry teacher Yu Wei used his own way to encourage me. I finally got a 4 in AP Chemistry. Foreign teacher pays additional attention to me as they realize that my English is somehow less fluent compare to my classmates. They spend more time to wait for me to finish my sentence, pick out my grammatical mistake. Plus, the help of my English teacher Xiong Jin, my English improved dramatically. I got a 100 in TOEFL within no time.

　　On my way, I found some learning method that suits me well. It could be helpful.

　　Number one, split you target. When I first came here, my vocabulary is only 4000, but to handle TOEFL and SAT required a vocabulary of 12000. I must finish it in 9 months.

　　Number two, action. After several days of memorizing words, I found that I could only remember one third of the words that I memorized the day before. So, it turns out that I must memorized 90 words a day to fulfill my plan.

　　Finally, I did it. That’s what will happen when you stick to the right thing.

　　“世界學(xué)者杯”辯論賽，錦上添花

　　高二下，我的標(biāo)化成績(jī)已進(jìn)入班級(jí)一流梯隊(duì)。開始做我熱愛的事情，向國外大學(xué)證明我的軟實(shí)力。

　　正好，外教Ayaz想組隊(duì)參加“世界學(xué)者杯”辯論賽，對(duì)手絕大部分以英語為母語。培訓(xùn)中，Ayaz老師表現(xiàn)出了世界級(jí)的教練水平。他針對(duì)每個(gè)人的特點(diǎn)設(shè)計(jì)戰(zhàn)術(shù)，一次又一次地組織我們訓(xùn)練，直到我們能像真正的團(tuán)隊(duì)一樣密切配合。毫無懸念，我們?nèi)〉昧朔浅：玫拿巍Ｎ业谝淮误w會(huì)到，做一件讓自己快樂、也被別人認(rèn)可的事是多么幸福。

　　放榜前，我內(nèi)心篤定。兩年中加，我的自控力得到加強(qiáng)，個(gè)人能力獲得巨大提升，取得了非常理想的標(biāo)化成績(jī)，還變成了一個(gè)自信、快樂的人。兩年之后，我的實(shí)力絕對(duì)值得五所美國TOP50和一封TOP30的錄取。

　　在深圳寶立方畢業(yè)舞會(huì)上，作為2019屆畢業(yè)生代表發(fā)言，在一千多人的注目下，我依然能那樣淡定，是中加給了我榮譽(yù)的同時(shí)也給了我自信，給了我奔向未來的力量。

　　World Scholar Cup

　　At the second term of grade 11, my standardized test score is high enough. I started to try on things that I like.

　　My foreign teacher, Mr. Ayaz, set up a team for the debate contest—World Scholar Cup. Most of my rivals have English as their first language. Mr. Ayaz proved that he is a coach of world class. He designed tactics for each one of us, how to attack, how to defense. In the end, we did a great job and won dozens of prizes. For the first time, I realize how happy I could be for doing the thing that both me and others are fond of.

　　Before the result come out form the university, I was calm. Through Two years in SCCSC, I learnt how to control myself, and get some high scores. More importantly, I am happy. For those two years, I can say that I worth every offer that I got.

　　When I address my speech on behalf of all my classmates of grade 12 to thousands of people in our graduation ceremony, I finally realize what kind of showing off I am always seeking for. SCCSC gave my power and glory, and I will make that shine.
